The Line Starts Here Meme

Name a pairing that I am familiar with, in a fandom I am familiar with, and I will write one line for that pairing and fandom.

ETA: Apparently I'm being unable to write these as anything other than run-on-sentence drabbles (though not 100 words, sometimes more and sometimes less), but I may try and control myself (and do bits other than the beginning or entirety of a given story) for future requests. May, not will.

It inevitably distracts him, that silver hair (silver, white-gold, platinum), in lessons, in the great hall (always framing that smirking, narrow face); he would never admit it (even to himself, especially to Ron or Hermione), but it shines in his dreams, too, spread across a pillow, glimpsed in far-off pursuit—he wakes ill-tempered and ill-rested, which just makes him all the more easily distractible the next day.

Goombella thinks that there is nothing in this world that she loves so much as archaeology (and talking), until one day she notices that Professor Frankly has stopped listening to her latest hypothesis about the ruins under Rogueport and is instead gazing with rapt adoration at his freshly grilled shroom-and-turtley-leaf sandwich; that’s when she feels her heart break, the same way that it broke when she was thirteen years old and realized she would never meet either one of those mustachioed superstars, the famous Mario Brothers.

Xander/Angel

Xander has never told Buffy why he professes to dislike Angel so much—she invariably assumes it to be his intense and automatic jealousy of any man who touches her—but that doesn't stop him from thinking about it every time he sees them together, remembering the way that Angel stopped him once behind the Bronze with a hand on his shoulder, warned that there could be vampires out there in that dark night; and how they stood there wrapped in shadows while bloodless hands caressed night-chilled flesh, hands that took what they wanted and gave him just a taste, one mocking taste, of what could be if there weren't things like Destiny and Love standing in the way.

(I almost made this sentence a perfect drabble, but then I decided not to. It's an easy enough change, though!)

I shouldn't, I really shouldn't, but... Hephaestus/Ares.

They never say anything about a triangle, down there amidst the hills and rocky plains of Greece, just talk about the jawed hinge of their relationship, as unbalanced as he is, sturdy on one side and weak on the other; but Hephaestus is a smith, and he knows that, to last, a structure must have some balance, which means (if he loves his wife, and his wife loves his brother) that either his brother must love him or they must all love each other (both of which would imply, he thinks, that Ares does love him); he doesn't dare ask, though, just in case his calculations are wildly askew, or the fragile structures of humanity (or even divinity) aren't fashioned along the same plans as the mechanical creations he can handle so well.

He did not wish it so at first, for he felt it now seemed to the others that there was little enough of love lost between them, but Aragorn was insistent that he should accompany Boromir; and Boromir surely was not one to deny such a request.
