1. If you could live in any city in the world, where would you live and why?

Quite likely, Los Angeles. I was born here, I grew up here, and I love it to pieces. Yes, there are bits of it that actually deserve the bad rep it tends to receive, but there are so many beautiful and exciting places in LA, as well. Besides, it's really close to Catalina, and it's only an hour flight (or 5.5-ish hour drive) to the Bay Area. Admittedly, I could live up north and come down to LA occasionally, but... there's something about LA that I love too much to actually want to leave it.

2. If you could speak any language fluently, what would it be?

Hmm. That's a tough one. Possibly Latin, because that would help a lot with my work; but then again, ancient Greek would just sound so cool, if I actually spoke it fluently and therefore comprehended how pitch accents and stuff actually worked. And it would also help me out work-wise. Of modern languages, I'd have to decide between something delightfully obscure, with fun clicks and noises that just don't exist in most languages, or a very difficult Asian language, or something that a lot of people actually speak and therefore would be highly useful.

3. When was the last time you rode a ferry and where did you go?

The summer of 2002, when I was in Vancouver with [livejournal.com profile] elemy and her family, and we took the ferry back from the island to the mainland, wending through the isolated pockets of small, fir-covered islands, and the sun was setting behind the boat, and it was wonderfully windy.

4. What was the longest plane ride you've ever taken?

Presumably from LA to Heathrow, on one of numerous occasions. (Or maybe Heathrow to LA; I can't remember any more which direction takes longer.) Since when I went to Japan we went via Hawaii, it didn't actually take very long. I've still never been to Australia or Tahiti; those would obviously take longer.

5. If you discovered a country, what would you name it?

Hrm. Surely if it were already a country, and I simply discovered it, it would already have a name?
