Actually, lunch wasn't so bad. We didn't talk very much about P5 politics, and Shay introduced me to Naan 'n' Curry, which has the amazing blessing of
FREE CHAI. And the food's good, too. I think I know my new lunch place of choice when I'm not at FSM with
mciac. Sarah had apparently told Shay that
leech and I had a seder at a pizza place (
how precisely did she get this idea?). Maybe now I know why she never showed up! :)
On my way from lunch to my singing lesson, I discovered Friends of the Berkeley Public Library. This is a bookshop that sells books really really cheaply; some are discards from the library and some are donations, but the money they make goes to help the library. I spent $15... on 21 books. Including
Tom's Midnight Garden, which I think Rachel might be interested to know. Also justified my spending spree to myself by picking up a copy of Gilbert & Gubar's "The Madwoman in the Attic," so that I can pretend like I actually spent the money on something even tangentially related to work. And the copy of "La Jalousie" will undoubtedly help me to improve my French, if I want to go around sounding like Robbe-Grillet. ;)
I also met
girlwithjournal's Latin stalker. All in all? Productive day so far, if I'm not talking about work. Now I must try and find some connection between the
Historia Apollonii regis Tyri and Chrétien de Troyes'
Erec and Enide, and explicate it preferably by Monday. Not really a lot of hope there... but I'd rather find some real connection than talk 100% out of my ass. *sigh*
And it's raining....
