girlwithjournal, which was nice for numerous reasons: we had fun talking, it's good food, neither of us had eaten yet, she hadn't been there before, I got to put it on my parents' credit card, they brought us free tea because they love my family....
Then we went to see "Master and Commander," which was really good.thalassius and midnightmelody, if you haven't yet seen it, you're going to go ballistic over the sheer amounts of water that there are.
On our way driving up to dinner, the moon was full and huge and hanging not very far above the horizon. When we got back togirlwithjournal's house, the moon was higher and glowing out from behind the clouds, with a very cool nimbus. Then we left again to go to the store, and when we got back, the moon was doing the neatest thing. There was the moon, and then there was a really broad empty circle around the moon, and then there was a ring of light surrounding it all. Way, way out far away from the moon. It was absolutely beautiful. So we stood there staring at it and made taurendur and nenar and dizzyditz and Josiah all come out into the cold to look at it too.
Made eggnog, which was OK, but I don't like Joy of Cooking's recipe for it very much. I got a carton of it at the store, too, though, so I will have yummy eggnog for the next couple of days, until I drink it all. Managed to shave a small amount of skin off the back of my hand by attempting to take the whisks out of the beater and instead turning it on to extra high power, because their electric beater is silly and doesn't have any of its buttons in the places that most beaters have.
Now I have been awake for a very, very long time, and I should be sensible and go to bed soon.
