Since I need a mini-bit of displacement (needed? umm...), I decided to upload these few icons which I'd cropped ages back but never actually added as userpics, probably due to lack of icon space. Well, no fear of that now!

The white horse of... Westbury, apparently, based on some Internet research. Anyway, I like how it looks like a real horse standing in the field behind the fence! (I'm particularly proud because this was taken from a moving vehicle.)

Quasi-asleep in the Merton College garden, a couple summers ago.

A knocker on the door of an Anglo-Saxon church (I can't remember what any of these places are called! Argh!)

A crow perching on the top of a dolmen at Stonehenge. (See, I know where this one is, at any rate.)

Thanks! I just did a normal table -- these days, I probably use more of my HTML knowledge for making lj look pretty than for any "legitimate" purpose! :)

Hey, I took that picture! :o)

The white horse of Westbury is of course a modern (i.e. last few centuries) conceptual copy of the very much older (three thousand years old) White Horse of Uffington (or White Horse of Fluffington as my brother used to call it when he was little).

You did indeed!

I've actually been to the Uffington White Horse, as opposed to taking pictures from the motorway, approximately two years before the above picture was taken. If I took any pictures of it, though, it was in the pouring rain, so I may not have done. (Also, pre-digital. *sigh*)

So it turns out that I did take a picture of the Uffington White Horse. But from my angle, it looks like some random scallops of greyish-white, since I was right above it. :)
