I went to listen to AIR out on Sproul today, after German. They're really sounding good. I'm dissatisfied with their arrangement of "Galileo," but this probably just 'cause I know the original so very well. But they're missing harmonies! It could, to be fair, be because they were missing one of their five girls. [livejournal.com profile] tzeentch was there. I also picked up a copy of the Daily Cal; there's an article in it today on the SCA. This makes me laugh.

Afterwards I went and got a pumpkin smash at Jamba Juice (this seems to be swiftly becoming my standard lunch), pausing on the way to get a free slice of pizza.... from the Hillel group, who were giving away pizza under a sukkah. I'll allow it to be called a sukkah because it did actually have green stripes on it. :) Anyway, at Jamba Juice, I ran into Kenji and a couple of his friends; they'd evidently gone there after AIR was finished. And I got yet another new quarter (Missouri) as change. It's got a canoe.

Then I went and sat in the place [livejournal.com profile] leech showed me by Strawberry Creek, and did some work. After a while, I noticed that there were masses and masses of crayfish in the stream. I knew that they were supposed to be there, but I hadn't seen any; however, once I saw one, I just kept seeing them all over, because they become very easy to spot once you know what to look for. There were red adults (smaller than my dad's crayfish, I'd say) and little brown-grey juveniles. Also, earlier, I saw two blue dragonflies mating (too small for bluebottles, I think). The spot is very good for people-watching. Or doing work. Not both. I eventually left because I was attracting too many crawly insects, and I thought I might drop my papers in the water if I kept wriggling.

Must remember to ask my dad what on earth a crayfish might be doing with half a leaf of ivy.

near the willow tree, yes? I did that last fall, was sitting there and noticed one, then two, and all of a sudden, the creek was full of 'em. Tried showing Nicole, but there were only a few. I shall have to take her tomorrow : )
