Stranger things....

Went down with my parents to the Wines for dinner tonight, which is always lovely, because I miss them when I don't get to see them. Also, I hadn't seen Nina in positively years, because she's always been in Santa Cruz when I'm at her parents', for whatever reason. But she was there tonight, as was... her girlfriend.... Nina's gay. Yeah. The friend my age that I've known for the very very longest... is also gay. This is just too strange, and so of course we spent the evening giggling about this odd coincidence. 'Cause she'd not known about me either.

Stranger, though, since my gaydar for girls is so very non-existent, I'd been wondering for a long time about her, with absolutely no reason behind this. I play out scenes in my head, sometimes, of future events, or events that would never happen (I can get myself quite worked up sometimes, if I imagine something bad), and every time I pictured my next conversation with her, it came out that she was gay. So, strangeness. But amusing.

A few years back, as I was going down to my brothers, I ran through a few hypothetical conversations to have with him. I do this a lot, even with people I'm almost certainly never going to meet, so this wasn't unusual. One conversation involved him telling me he was in a relationship with his two neighbours (friends of his for years before they ended up living next door to him). Imagine my surprise when this turned out to be correct, because until then I hadn't really considered the possibility he might be bi. Sometimes things just turn out odd like that.
