Depending on whether I give my realistic dream job (teacher/professor) or my other dream job (singer), I come up with

or

respectively.
In other news, convinced P5 to run through Daemon tonight on the grounds that it's Walpurgisnacht (thanks,
emidala!). But I don't think it makes up for the fact that I'm not in Oxford right now, and it's May morning, and I should be staying up all night and going to G&Ds and having random conversations about toggles and woggles and pressing through the crowded High Street in an attempt to get as close as possible to Magdalen Tower to listen to the choir singing madrigals. I can't believe how strange and remote that feels, when I've been doing exactly that for the last four years. No Morris dancers with traditional cake and bells on (the cake's not on them, they've got the cake), no trying to find somewhere serving breakfast that's not got eight million people waiting already to sit down, no laughing at random drunk students wandering hazily through the streets in somewhat dishevelled black-tie. No !Paul in his multicolored dressing gown. Now I'm just getting morose, so I think I'd best stop writing this entry and post it.
OK, wow. They actually had apathetic as a mood! I was going to type it in. Given the last part of the post, though, possibly 'gloomy' would be more accurate.

Date: 2003-05-01 12:16 am (UTC)I suppose I've stayed up for quite a proportion of the night having random conversations. But I forgot about the date. May already, wow. That means it's nearly your birthday, that's a positive thought.

Date: 2003-05-01 07:51 am (UTC)Since when have you known me stay up till 8.30 in the morning?! That's the kind of thing you do, not the kind of thing I do.
Anyway, here's another try to put up my little picture. Can you see it now (it's now hosted on quizilla, not yahoo)?

Date: 2003-05-03 10:16 am (UTC)I've just been to St Andrews and they have May morning here too, it seems. 'Parently instead of singing madrigals up a tower, they sing them in the sea. In fact, at Tentsmuir beach (http://www.kenbushe.co.uk/assets/images/View_to_Tentsmuir_400.jpg) (where you've been, Darcy; it's where they have that gorgeous pine forest right by the beach). I think I might do that next year, could be nearly as cool as May morning in Oxford, and with much prettier scenery.
