Cicadas feature in some of my strongest memories. However, in no memory were they ever dressed quite like this:

(I almost got the Iron Chef cicadas, but it was a question of whether my favorite song was Weird Al's "Eat It" or the drunken sailor song.)

At least I'm a techno cicada. I was hoping to see cicadas in Rochester, but apparently we're a bit too far north and/or east here. And I doubt they'll be out and about in JFK tomorrow afternoon (though maybe someone opened the airport door or something).

There are cicadas down in LA, though you hear them more than see them. I remember them best from Japan, though. It was nearly twenty years ago, but I can still remember how they felt, gripping my skin through the gauze of the bamboo net, and I can remember folding origami cicadas on the bus and on the plane.

Your cicadas look like Andy Warhol cicadas. :)
