The pale Usher—threadbare in coat, heart, body, and brain; I see him now. Mademoiselle Giraud crossed her arms, looked at him, and sighed. As if, he thought, she had been waiting for him. 'There were rumours for years that the Chancellor of the time, Baethelen Salassa, had been plotting something with the Empress,' Mauriz explained to Ravenna. Janou heard Casaubon's shout, but by the time she spun round, they were walking decorously across the square towards her: Master-Captain Valentine with hands deep in pockets, and the ex-Lord-Architect reaching up to feed a scrap of something dubious to the white rat that rode his satin shoulder.

Oooh, I spy Mary Gentle! And looking at the answers behind the cut, um, you probably shouldn't reveal Anselm's pseudonym like that, you know.

Probably a good idea. You know some people are *really* paranoid. :)

I agree, I don't think he would be happy with having his pseudonym revealed, especially in a theoretically 'accessible by anyone' public post. Even if he doesn't complain directly, I respectfully recommend that you change it. :)

I would be willing to bet there's still something you *should* be reading. Possibly even some language you're supposed to be learning...

So jealous! I wish my program had a bit more of the structured school (with breaks!) feel and less of a"you ought to be spending all of your waking hours in the lab" feel to it.

I don't have a bookshelf. Does this disqualify me from doing the meme?

Actually, that's irrelevant because I'm never going to be able to do the meme in my current room anyway, due to lack of internet connection.
