Today is Father's Day! For all you people out there who haven't been, over the past week, continually seeing massive huge posters sponsored by the Galeries Lafayette that read Mon coeur est à papa, today, Sunday, June 15th, is a day that you really should probably call your daddy (or wave at him in the kitchen, or something) and say hi. Just thought I'd remind y'all....

More on Father's Day
Jun. 15th, 2003 07:35 pmI'll post about today's museum trip in a minute (although it'll take more like an hour or so to write up, probably, given past experience!), but I thought I'd amuse myself by posting the e-mail I sent to my father today, since apparently he loved it. (I don't know why it is that he complains about me not e-mailing him, and then when I do, my mother writes to tell me that my dad loved the e-mail I sent him. Go figure.)
OK, there was some reason I needed to e-mail you today. It's not your birthday, that was back in April, and we got you that cool little digital camera that you're going to let me use lots in France. Umm... jeez, you know, I can't remember. I'm sure it wasn't anything important. Maybe I wanted to remind you not to put the milk in the microwave. No, probably wasn't that, either, 'cause I'd have more fun laughing at you if you did. It could've been that I wanted to get cross at you for not being home when I called yesterday so that I could tell you all about the Saturday market I went to. Well, whatever it was, I guess I'll just talk to you later, Daddy.
Oh, that was it! Happy Father's Day! ;)
I love you lots,
Darcy

Le Musée d'Orsay
Jun. 15th, 2003 07:41 pmThanks to lunch, laundry, and laziness, I only got to the Musée d'Orsay at 3-ish. The exhibitions close at 5:30 every day except Thursday, so this meant I only got about 2.5 hours there. Just about enough time to see what was on the ground floor. There are two other floors left; I will probably be making two more trips, therefore! (I will also wear my sneakers, next time; all that standing in sandals is aggravating my knees, which in turn kills my legs.) But I like taking my time when I want, so I don't really mind the "sacrifice" of the extra days used up.
( Of course, another long museum entry. )
Edited to add hyperlinks; also, cross about the paintings I was absolutely unable to find on the web.
