elemy and I wandered around campus, and I introduced her to
leech. In the evening, we decided to play Monopoly, since I hadn't yet used the replica set I bought last year. We did play a game, interrupted in the middle by a viewing of Princess Bride, which
wolfemancs had started watching. Then we played another game of Monopoly. With a d100. This is clearly the right way to play Monopoly. It becomes a high stakes game very quickly, and the $500 bills see definite use. (11, 22, etc. are double numbers, in case anyone wants to try playing that way.) It lasted long enough, though, that we were up until nearly 4am. Not such a good thing, though we didn't have any specific time to get up, so that was fine. Except for that
elemy's mother called at about 8am to see if E. had arrived OK and to let us know what a good time they're having in Yellowstone. It was very nice to talk to her, but 8am wasn't a good time. I did manage to go back to sleep, though. :)
Today we went into San Francisco. Our plan was to go to the Exploratorium, then walk back along the embarcadero and stop in at Ghirardelli Square and Buena Vista. In fact, this is exactly what we did. Given how late we were awake last night, we didn't get going until a bit after noon, but we had a good few hours at the Exploratorium (fantastic exhibits, as there always have been and always will be), then we nosed around the chocolate shop in Ghirardelli for a bit, and then went and had two Irish coffees each at Buena Vista. While we were there, we might have seen Ozzy Osbourne outside the window. We also might have simply seen someone who looked a good deal like Ozzy. This is, in fact, my bet, but one of the other three people at the table with us was convinced it was he.
We caught the F along the embarcadero back to the BART station after that, and I was most puzzled to see that all the signs inside the tram were in Italian. Spanish? I'd expect. But Italian? And it's not even as though some were Italian and some were English. They were all Italian!
After we got home, we went to Ethiopia Restaurant.
elemy liked the Ethiopian food, which is a good thing. I love how close it is to my house. :)
