Halloween is coming, swift and terrible ;)

And I have a lot of fics to write. So I thought I'd mention them all here, in the hopes of prodding myself to actually work on them. As well as my papyrology presentation.

Timezone Challenge. Girl in Greenland becomes a Slayer pursuant to Willow's spell in "Chosen."
Back in the Day Fic-a-thon. Giles, season 3. Angst-y. Thinking, maybe, post-"Band Candy." But I'm not sure.

These two are both due in early/mid-November.

And then, provoking the title of this post, I have two Halloween fics to write. One is for the fifth round of the Lyric Wheel, and I haven't yet been given my song, so I'm justifiably not working on it yet! The other is for wiseacress' scary Halloween fics collection. My idea for this last one is as follows:

In P5, we're doing 3 songs for Halloween, two of which are really quite freaky, and the third of which is awfully pagan-y, being Loreena McKennitt. (If leech ever gets it arranged, at least; but I have every faith in him. *cough*) So I want to do a three-part fic, each pendant on one of these songs. I'm thinking Dru and [someone] and a magic-gone-awry-calling-strange-forces, one for each of the three parts. Now, if only I can manage this....

Strange exchange

Between me and psychopepsquad over AIM last night. The last line is priceless:

It is, in fact, a beer. "Spatzen," I think, is a place. Though I'm probably wrong there, too. Anyway, this amused me.

Who Are My Friends? (a meme-let)

Okay, I liked mciac's "Who are my friends?" thing, and I thought it could be easily adoptable as a meme. If it isn't one already, that is. ;)

I'm not going to friends-lock this, but if anyone feels that something is too sensitive of information, just comment and I'll be happy to lock it. But please, only comment for yourself, don't assume on other people's behalf.

And now to work

But first, the reason I haven't been working yet today. Err, apart from that last post, that is, which took an extraordinary amount of time, and there's people I know I didn't do justice to.

Anyway, a very dear friend came to Berkeley today, and we had breakfast and generally caught up. She lives in the Bay Area, so there's really no reason that we see each other so infrequently; though she did live in a remote bit of Palo Alto before. Now, however, she's living in San Mateo, and she said the drive was about 35 minutes. So we've resolved that we simply must see each other more often.

We ate our breakfast at the bakery just off College and Russell, and while we were there, William Fitzgerald came in with his two sons. I'd never met them before, and I've still not met them, 'cause they're at the small and hyper and possibly shy stage, but I've at least seen them.
