Strange exchange

Between me and psychopepsquad over AIM last night. The last line is priceless:

j: g'nacht
d: Ja.
d: Bis späten (???)
j: mmmm...no.
d: 'K.
j: uh....
d: I give up. My German is very very minimal.
j: spater
d: Ah.
j: with umlaut
d: Hey, I was close! One letter off.
j: spaten is a place
d: Ahhh.
j: i think. or a beer. not sure.

It is, in fact, a beer. "Spatzen," I think, is a place. Though I'm probably wrong there, too. Anyway, this amused me.
