I swear, I have never been hit on so many times in my life. Majorly persistent guy today while I was eating lunch; I eventually tried resorting to "je préfère les femmes," but this had very little effect either. He was a boxer, originally from Africa — what's next to South Africa? Anyway, I think I may make it a rule simply to ignore any man who addresses me unless he's with a woman or a child. At least until I know enough French to politely give someone the brush-off and make it clear I mean it! Maybe I should just start wearing my glasses... and not shave my legs... and pick my nose.... On the bright side, it gave me a very good chance to practice my French.

Page and I tried to go to a concert tonight, but it ended up being 20 euros, not 9 (as we had thought), so that was a no-go. Wandered along the Champs-Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe, instead.

Also took the placement test for the Alliance Française today; I aced the level II test and absolutely bombed the level III test. And fun and hijinx with credit cards. Yippee.

Ah Paris. You must go running between l'Ecole Militaire and the Eiffel Tower one early morning. Absolutely marvellous place for running (best place in Paris if you don't count the parks). Hope you brought your Asics! ;)

Wahoo, Darcy! Livin' it up and seeing la vie en rose! And apparently you're a hot ticket too...not that we didn't already know that.

Oh, lovely Gallic manners. If you do find the secret to getting rid of those idiots, please share! It'll still happen if you try to make yourself unattractive; I used to get that kind of thing when I was fifteen.

I've never found telling people that I'm gay to be a very effective means of rejection. This may be because I can't say it with entire sincerity, but I think it's mainly because that line just doesn't work.

Hi!
I know rachael and she gave me this link-im staying in the cité too (cfb-just across from you) and just thought id say that absolutely everyone seems to have that problem with the french blokes-not so much sleaziness as having no shame and not taking no for an answer. Nothing more weird that seeing french guys in a club literally grabbing girls by the arm and then not letting. Its as if feminism never happened. Take care!
