Ga*ked from
catamorphism
Aug. 17th, 2006 06:10 pmLeave a comment and I'll give you a letter. Then you must think of 10 song titles that start with that letter (as well as the artist), without using Google or other cheats.
I got Y, which
catamorphism called a "fun" letter and I call an "evil" letter.
"Yesterday," The Beatles
"Yellow Submarine," The Beatles
"Yoda," Weird Al Yankovic
"Yellow," Coldplay
"YMCA," Village People
"You Showed Me," The Turtles
"You Are A Pirate," Lazy Town
Having a hard time here, and I've been thinking about this for hours... so until I come up with three more valid entries:
I also know there's a set of classical pieces named the Yangtze River Suite (vel sim.), but I have no idea who the composer is. *sigh*
And there's a piece that might be from a musical called "You," which even Googling for it, I can only find the lyrics on the cache of someone's MySpace page, and I'm entirely unaware as to who wrote it.
Can I cheat with the pronunciation of "Ukelele Lady"? :)
ETA: Of course: "You Are My Sunshine," which I'm sure counts as being by "Traditional," who's at least as prolific as "Anonymous," if not more so. OK, one down, two more to go....
And there's "You're So Vain," which
grimhild says is by Carly Simon (not that he used Google, ahem), and he also says that Midnight Echo did a cover of it, which I totally think counts. :)
OK, one more....

Date: 2006-08-18 05:51 pm (UTC)This is surprisingly difficult; apparently I don't think of music in this way. I'm highly amused at the variety of what I'm coming up with, though.
(I declined to use piano concerti, as that would have been too easy.)
* "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park", Tom Lehrer (I oughta get 3 points for that one. :> )
* "Pour Some Sugar On Me", Def Leppard
* "Pavane", Bobby McFerrin (can't remember the composer--Faure, maybe?--it's off _Paper Music_, in any event)
* "Paranomia", Art of Noise
* "Peter and the Wolf", Tchaikovsky
* "Pride (In The Name Of Love)", U2
* "Papageno/Papagena", Mozart (can't remember the name of the opera)
* "Pollution", Tom Lehrer
* "Painters", Jewel
* "(A) Policeman's Lot Is Not A Happy One", Gilbert/Sullivan
* "Poor, Wandering One", G/S
Now that I've got my 10, I took a look at iTunes...man, I missed some nice ones. :P

You'll appreciate my pun elsewhere in the comments, I think.... :P
