Really, all I want to know is what's up with the weird cylon-herpes that a bunch of the humans seem to have. OK, well, it might not be cylon-herpes, but a bunch of people including Starbuck and Ellen have been sporting weird mouth-bruises, and now Tigh and that other woman in the Circle had those little face-lesions. Then again, if it is cylon-herpes, what was woman-whose-name-I-don't-know doing sleeping with a cylon?
And as for the "next week on"s, a) presumably the "coincidence" that Baltar was talking about to Six is that they both had little phantom-versions of the other; b) why do the Cylons always want to live on whatever planet the humans are living on; and c) some of Elias' friends think that Baltar is a cylon because he couldn't have survived the nuclear blast otherwise. I say, "hmmmmm" and am dubious and doubtful.
Oh, and lastly, WHY DO THE OTHER FIVE UNKNOWN AND MYSTERIOUS CYLONS NOT HAVE A VOTE IN ANYTHING???

Also, presumably, I think the big 7 have no idea who the other 5 are. Kind of in the Ben/Glory way.

Date: 2006-10-28 07:40 am (UTC)I've heard that "how else did he survive the blast" theory before, and it never seemed compelling to me. I mean, he was in his fancy lakeside vacation cottage a long way from the city. It wasn't like the nuke was a direct hit. The danger was the glass blown in by the blast--enough to kill a person, but #6[*] shielded him, getting killed in the process. Seems plausible enough to me.
That said, I don't watch the "next week on"s, so maybe I missed a clue that you saw.
'WHY DO THE OTHER FIVE UNKNOWN AND MYSTERIOUS CYLONS NOT HAVE A VOTE IN ANYTHING???'
I wonder about that. It's possible that Xena said "we're split 3:3" because the five missing models are very hush-hush, so she doesn't even allude to them in a human's presence. (i.e. The council was really split 5:5, with two abstentions.) Or maybe the missing models are so deep-secret that the seven we know about--or some of them, anyway--don't ever get to meet them, precisely because the seven we know about could leak that information to the humans.
Or maybe the writers just screwed up.
I do hope none of the existing human stars turn out to be surprise cylons. They haven't really pulled that stunt on us. Every time we meet a new Cylon model, we find out what it is by the end of the episode--even Boomer, the one big "oh noes" surprise, was revealed at the end of the pilot. Brother Cynic, Xena, Paternal Negro Doctor--all were revealed as Cylons in the episodes that introduced them. I think it'd be kind of lame to suddenly tell us that, say, Dualla's a Cylon. The groundwork isn't really there for any of them (except possibly Baltar--and not even there, I think).
[*] Who is #1?

Date: 2006-10-28 07:48 am (UTC)Well, I agree with you that Baltar's probably not a cylon, but in the Next Week, he was apparently asking Six if he's a cylon, in that panicky voice that only Baltar can do so well.
Howdy
