Dumb quiz?

OK, this really says something about just how crap 80s songwriters were. Because I've never heard a single one of these songs, and:

Wow, you got them all right. I think it's about
time you started listening to new music.

So you think you know lyrics to 80's songs?

But then, on reflection, I went back and changed an answer, and was still told that I got them all right. So clearly the quiz is just a bit fucked.

Yeah, I did the same. Pah. We need Mr. Jones here to tell us what the answers are.

Eh, yeah.

I mean, I'm intelligent enough, but being able to get the same answer despite knowing only two songs...

So, I got a different response:

Not even close. You either hated new wave, you were
born in the 80's or you took the wrong quiz.

But then, I chose how I'd have completed the sentences, not how I thought other people might have.

And it is right, I didn't know any of the songs.

Snap. There might be more than one right answer to certain questions- different verses.

being able to hear every one of those songs in my head was a benefit, i suppose.
some of them had more than one verse from the same song, which almost caught me on the English Beat one.

I got them all right too apparently. I didn't recognise any of the songs, I guessed by which answer sounded best. I don't think this quiz is terribly well written.

Yeehah!

You see, the quiz is about The Cure, The Smiths, and Men at Work. Not Kylie and Jason....

I refuse to believe you don't know who Kylie is!

Jason I'll let you off on. They both started life as characters on "Neighbours", the prime-time Australian soap opera, and they both signed to PWL to record songs written by Pete Waterman (shudder), and they both lived in the UK Top 10 for a year as a result. They recorded a duet ("Especially for You"), went out but denied it to the media until afterwards, and then Kylie dated rock bad-boy Michael Hutchence of INXS and the rest is history. Jason went on to star in musicals in the West End, as Joseph and as Frankenfurter, not unsuccessfully.

When some people think of "80s", they think of Human League, OMD and synth-pop. Some people think of "alternative 80s", Teardrop Explodes, New Order, Pysychadelic Furs and A Cerain Ratio. But unfortunately for these isles, a lot of people will think of Kylie, Jason, and Belinda Carlisle. Ugh.

Fully realise non-Britishness is likely to give you a different slant, but Kylie (Minogue, indeed, but usually simply "Kylie") is now officially the second-biggest female artsit in the world after Madonna, naurally, and I'm sure you'd be flabbergasted if I didn't know who Madonna was!)

I wouldn't have been any wiser if it had been Kylie and Jason, I'm afraid
