I had to wash the bad taste of the The Dark Is Rising The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising trailer out of my mouth, so I spent the last couple hours making this. It makes me happy, I'm rather pleased with how it came out. :) Also, my headache (that I had last night and woke up with, naturally) is finally gone.

I should have taken your warning...

...but I had to go watch the trailer for myself.

*attempts to scrape trailer residue off brain*

I think that this may turn out to be the second-worst movie adaptation of a book that I've liked. (The worst will probably always be "Starship Troopers": as far as I can tell, those who made that movie made a point of perverting or ignoring all the themes of that book...and the result wasn't even a good story.)

At least now I can, with a clear conscience, warn my friends and family not to see the movie.

That is to say: gah!

Thanks for making the icon; it does help. A bit. :)

yup. *wry smile*

The worst part is that if I see Stardust in the theater--which I may well--I'll probably end up sitting through that trailer _again_.

Oh, I hope that I can. But I'm not sure that it's a movie that Corwin's equipped to appreciate yet, so we have to arrange for babysitting, etc. (The twins aren't yet a problem; as long as we keep 'em fed they're fine.)

I enjoy being a parent, at least much of the time. But it does rather cut down on one's movie-going and certain other kinds of entertainment.

He's about 2.5 (born on Groundhog's Eve, 2005.). So yeah, I might try him on it at home (where we could pause the movie and talk about it) but probably not in a theater.

I have managed to avoid that trailer thus far, and I hope I can continue to do so.

(The worst will probably always be "Starship Troopers": as far as I can tell, those who made that movie made a point of perverting or ignoring all the themes of that book...and the result wasn't even a good story.)

It did make the point that, given an invasion of giant alien bugs, the best choice for utterly disposable frontline cannonfodder is daytime soap actors.

Had they actually killed off _all_ such actors in the film, that might have mitigated their offense somewhat. Then I could at least have viewed the movie as an intentional parody. :P

There's some ugly aliasing effects when you view it on a background that's other than white. Ideally you could get those edge pixels to be anti-aliases with transparency rather that white. However, that may be too much work. :)

It looks good on the white background for sure though.

Oooh, pretty! I like it. Though now you need to make the good movie to go with it!

I went to Aberystwyth, and they had North Wales postcards there and there was one of Craig yr Aderyn and it is just like it is in The Grey King, she didn't make it up at all, you could almost see the doors.

I think this userpic entitles you to the second one I bought because I knew someone would want it -- email me your address?

The Bleeper: The Dark is So Totally F****d. Seeing that trailer before Stardust nearly tanked all the happy Gaiman-related feelings I was having sitting in the theater. Thankfully, trailers are short, Michelle Pfeiffer is pretty, and Milkduds are mighty tasty.

Ok... So... I don't really remember the trailer... I saw it before Harry Potter... and I was so excited that they were making a movie out of the books that I didn't think it was horrifically awful. I just didn't... main character might suck.

hmmm, need to find the books and read them again.
