I had a dinner party tonight; in a way it was my first, since other ones have been for special occasions, such as the latke party last Hanukkah. It was also a chocolate fondue party; this was the inspiration for my venture. We had to have a chocolate fondue party because I have a fondue pot, and it hadn't yet been used. And more to the point,
elemy is visiting, and the last chocolate fondue party we had was following her barbeque at the end of our last year.
The following people were present:
elemy,
girlwithjournal,
dangferret,
sschmitt,
leech,
nenar,
dizzyditz, and
grimhild, and
lordelessar showed up later. I didn't intentionally invite all lj people... really....
So for food, I made pasta and pasta sauce. And focaccia, of course, because I value my life. The pasta was inspired by
elemy seeing my pasta machine and saying ooh, have you ever used it, and do you know how to make pasta, and can we make pasta? to all of which I replied yes. So pasta happened, and fortunately came out. That's a 2 for 2 record. :) I also provided cheese (both leftovers from lunch yesterday and a couple more we picked up today). And then there was the fondue. Which really worked awfully well, I love my fondue pot. It's pretty, besides. The fruits for dipping were strawberries, bananas, kiwis, raspberries, mango, white and yellow peaches, dried apricots.... I think that was it. Wine... we had a zinfandel from Buena Vista, a pinot blanc from Valley of the Moon (picked these two up yesterday), and a red that
dangferret brought, which was called Athena and had a very cool label accordingly.
Meeting
lordelessar was fun, since I've obviously heard a fair amount about him (and saying his name makes
dizzyditz bounce and squeal, which is also amusing). And the vaguely separate groups fused quite nicely, what with role-playing and math and things being overlapping interests in some areas, and chocolate fondue being a great equalizer of mankind.
All in all, definitely a success, but I think I should find more plates.

But please, no more food-- my friend J yesterday had made enough food to feed a small army in the first place; and when we returned for brunch today, there was still *plenty*...
