Slowly filling gaps in my cultural background... tonight [livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal and [livejournal.com profile] nenar and [livejournal.com profile] dizzyditz showed me "Goonies." It's amazing seeing familiar faces as awfully small children and trying to figure out why you recognize them. Besides Sean Astin, there's Martha Plimpton, whom I was sure I recognized, and it turns out that she was in "Beautiful Girls" and "I Shot Andy Warhol" and "Parenthood," and the kid from "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" is also in it. And it turns out that he was in "Encino Man," which yes, I did see. (OK, I may possibly be addicted to IMDb.)

We also found out that the kid who plays Chunk was ASUC president at Berkeley. Now, for [livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal: "In a version broadcast on US cable channel HBO, several scenes were cut. These were back for the Disney Channel version, however." Still doesn't explain why the cut version was the DVD version, though. *sigh*

ummmm, after doing that '50 closest non-friends' thing, I found your LJ. Then in a moment of wacky spontenaity, I added you. Just thought I'd let you know :)

meant to add in the last comment, but posted too soon "hope you don't mind". Now I see that you don't but didn't want you to think me unpolite.

Are you an ex-Berkleian?
Nah, I'm not. But I *am* a classics grad student (at Rutgers). I used to want to go to Cal a LOT, but then they rejected me and I went to UC Santa Barbara instead. At this point I can't remember how I came across [livejournal.com profile] mciac, but it may have been because we were both teaching Latin this summer. And I found [livejournal.com profile] psychopepsquad through [livejournal.com profile] mciac. What can I say, I miss California :)
