No, she's Ashkenazi too, but most people use Sephardi pronunciation. I don't only because by and large my Hebrew pronunctiation (now that's a laugh!) comes from my mother, who was in turn originally taught by a rabbi with Ashkenazi pronunciation. Except for that they swapped to Sephardi pronunciation halfway through, so my mother's pronunciation is hopelessly confused, and as a consequence, so is mine. :)

And yes, it's also just an in-joke between us. Rachel actually thinks it's cute. ;)
Friends find the funniest things cute-- and that's a good thing. Mine always thought my German accent (nowadays with a liberal dose of British English, too) was cute, too. & ;-)
