...Let there be another. And there was another.

In fact, it was [livejournal.com profile] pseudomonas, whom I won't even claim to have sired (despite having given him an lj code). I'd be scared if I'd sired him. ;)

Everyone say hi! Say, yay, displacement and finally a chance to get updates on [livejournal.com profile] pseudomonas's life!

Grr

Last night I tried to write an entry about last night. And then I'd gotten the date on my previous entry wrong, so it wouldn't post immediately. And then I tried to change the date on the previous entry, but just at that point the network went down. (Related to the person on the next computer over looking at porn? Maybe, maybe not.) And then I tried to copy the text of my entry that hadn't gotten posted in order to save it somewhere to repost later, and I accidently deleted it all. So I'm very cross. But since I'm also up at the strange and ungodly hour, due to a combination of my room being stupidly hot and me having overeaten last night, I will attempt to recompose my lovely entry.

---

So, as is obvious from a few entries back, I gave my presentation today in French. It went relatively well, which was good. And then we learned about how the gerundive and present participle, which is something that has been majorly bugging me. So now I'm happy.

After class, I left the station at Denfert-Rochereau in order to see if the street market was still going. It wasn't, but the boulangerie was still open, as was a wine store. And there's a Monoprix. So I bought bread (a baguette and a grand campagne) and wine (a tasty Beaujolais) and cheese (a pont l'évêque) for the picnic along the Seine that we were going to have in the evening. And tea lights, which was a good thing, although we ended up not using them; there was a very bright street lamp where we were, and it seemed slightly silly.

Then I went back to the Cité and futzed around and did homework and went to the Franprix to get more film for my camera, which they ended up being out of. And then Katie and I headed up to place St Michel to meet Sharon. We thought we might be meeting other people as well, but in the end only Sharon came. (She brought two baguettes, a camembert, a boursin, and a bottle of wine.) So we waited around for Lindsay for a bit, but she didn't show up, and we headed off to the river.

We had a very nice picnic and chat, and a few random people came by, including two men who vaguely tried to engage us in conversation. The first one we simply ignored and pretended like we couldn't understand him, mostly, from my perspective, because we were in the middle of a conversation ourselves and he was just being annoying. Although I did find out the amusing fact that someone had told Sharon that 'dommage' meant 'fuck you.' Tee hee. The second one, who came by later, happened to address himself to me ("Where are you from? Spain? Germany? Maghreb?" No....) at a point when the other two were engaged in their own conversation about housing at Harvard (Sharon's considering it for her PhD program), and I could understand him quite well. So there was a bit of a random exchange there, and I even managed to shrug him off later without being rude. So that was nice. And I understood the fellow who came over to ask if we had a corkscrew. Yes, the Museum of Wine was useful after all, I now know the term tire-bouchon. Go me.

When it started getting chilly, we packed up and wandered, in search of coffee or dessert or something. Eventually, we came upon a café called Café Panis, on the Quai Montebello. Katie had a piece of chocolate and pear tart, and Sharon and I split a piece of tarte tatin. We all had kir. The desserts were really, really excellent. Katie's reaction was hilarious, though; I was about to tell the story of the first time I had kir, and suddenly Katie goes, "Oh my god." Then, again, with a look of ecstasy on her face, "Oh my god, that is amazing." Apparently, very very tasty chocolate tart.

In other news, Sam's turning up on Wednesday. Yay!
