Scanned the following to show [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777, so I thought I'd post it here, too. Laugh at 10-year-old me, with gigantic glasses and bangs (fringe, for you English people out there who don't speak American).

This was my tenth birthday party, at the beach by Gladstones, post the sand-castle contest. The beakers that we're holding have sandcrabs in them, which we dumped in our castle's moat. I can't remember if the flags had a specific purpose or were just for general decoration.

Alex Baskin is the boy that I had a crush on in 2nd grade. I obviously gave valentines to everyone in the class, per elementary school tradition, but I slipped a little note into his that said something like "Darcy likes Alex." He didn't say anything, so later I went up to him and was like, I thought I saw some random bit of paper sticking out of your envelope when I gave it to you, what was it? And he said something to the effect of oh, it was something stupid; so I think I pretended as though some kid must have slipped it in there to try and make trouble. I was not very good at subtlety back in the day. I possibly am not even now. :)

First, the DVD commentary one. Choose a story of mine that you want me to ramble on about — don't everyone jump at the chance at once, now </sarcasm>. All my stories except my most recent Oz fic can be found here, the Oz fic can be found here, and I'll put that one up on the website soon, too. Also, I think I'm going to do a commentary anyway on Casting Empty Nets because absolutely no one seemed to actually understand it. Oh, and anyone who wants to comment on the Oz fic should feel free, since no one did before. *hint hint*

I was going to swipe the 20 random friends meme from [livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal, but I realized it was going to take too long to "randomly" choose 20 people, and then make sure there weren't people in that 20 that I felt a bit weird commenting on, because they're such close friends. Given that I don't really have all that many people on my list whom I don't know personally.

Instead I'll steal one of her other memes, the fic crit meme, and apologies to my non-Buffy friends who are now excluded from any meming in this particular entry. Though you too are welcome to participate. The rules state: Pick a story you've written that's gotten little or no feedback, but you think is pretty good. Post it (or a link to it) on your journal, and ask people to criticize it. So (in addition to the Oz fic I mentioned earlier, which I think is very good, and is also very short *hint hint*) I'll ask people to criticize Lions of the North. Since I really don't write Giles/Ethan, or even Giles or Ethan, it would be nice to have some proper criticism.

Oh look, school must have started. I'm suddenly spamming lj.

Casting Empty Nets
Gone. Screaming emptiness, a hole ripped in her heart. The constant ache, so recently muted, exploded into a thousand blurred wings of sorrow, until she could stand it no longer. There was bright sun outside, but liquid night oozed into her heart, her mind. Starless, moonless, dreaming dead. So she tried to make her own dreams. Howled them from her mouth, until she floundered in the crystal river that drowned her as she tried to reach the kindly moon, who turned away his face. The fish are dead, the sun burned away their dew. There could be no more wishes.

Hmm.

I'm not sure about the mayonnaise on this sandwich I'm eating. If I wake up dead tomorrow, you'll all know why and can inform the coroner.

I got the following e-mail from Marika (which was sent to several people, at least four of whom I know) ...

Dear Singers,

I would like to hear you again for the chamber chorus call-backs on
Wednesday in Morrison Room 135. Please prepare the passage I will
leave outside my door at noon tomorrow. Also please sing for me some
rather lyric piece that best shows your best "classical" singing with
ease and expression.

but then I got this other e-mail from her, which she apparently sent only a minute later:

Dear Darcy,
I think I dont' need to hear you again tomorrow.
Will touch base with you on Friday or so
Thank you much,
Marika

So now I'm very confused.

In other news, I actually did some work tonight (*pats self on back*), and then I watched some Monty Python. Hooray for the Spanish Inquisition and their soft cushions. :)
