There are those who are saying:

I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

And I say, yes! inform away! Including people for whom I'm on a friendsfriends list, if you feel so inclined.

ETA: I seem to have run out of space on my mood line. It was meant to read:

apparently not headed suicidally for a cliff. unless I'm feeling mythical, too. that's probably quixotic, no?

My real name is Sarah Thompson. I like spinach. I'm doing a PhD in computer science at Cambridge. Sometimes I lack self worth, feel very small, feel shy. Yet, objectively, there is no reason why this should be the case. I have been through a lot, but I recalcitrantly insist upon continued survival.

Not sure I've actually eaten creamed spinach, as you happen to mention it, but I imagine that it would indeed be lovely. I have amazed a few people over the years by introducing them to creamed cabbage, however, which is a must-try!

It's really easy. You need a pan with a close fitting lid. Get it quite hot, empty, well above boiling point. Pour about half a cup of water, which should boil vigorously. Chuck in the cabbage and put the lid on. Leave it, giving the pan an occasional shake to stop anything sticking, for about three minutes. Open the lid, drain off any excess water that hasn't boiled off. Add double cream, heat it until it bubbles, ad salt 7 pepper. You're done.

Also works with soya cream if you want to go vegan. :-)

The idea is to steam the cabbage really quickly so it keeps its flavour rather than going into school dinner mode. And, yes, you do chop it first, but not too small usually works best. I've done it successfully with whole leaves.

Full name: Francis Lionel Forbes Dickinson (and I don't know what my parents were thinking either)

Random Fact: I don't ever use anything other than my christian name (agnostic name?) if I have a choice and never shorten it. I suspect you already knew all of that :-)

Hi, I'm Emily! I hate creamed spinach, but I quite like spinach wilted in butter. Especially served with garlic mushrooms and wrapped in pancakes. I don't have anyone on my friends list I haven't met and don't know fairly well, so I probably won't be posting this meme. Is there anything else you want to know that you don't know already?

I was brought up together with Yorkshire terriers (three at the high point) and I blame them for some of my habits. Pictured is the present incumbent, Lucy, as a puppy, not being terribly ladylike.

I have only relatively recently learnt to love spinach, since my lovely organic fruit & veg box people converted me. They supply this divine local fresh spinach, often baby spinach to boot.

Now my favourite way to cook spinach is Middle Eastern, with thinly sliced onions and chick peas and a couple of tomatoes. But I make quite a nice Chinese spinach soup too.

Hmmm... this has sneakily turned into a "How do I like my spinach cooked" meme. My favourite at the moment is with raisins and nuts - it works, honest.
OK, random fact: becoming a librarian was a childhood dream, right up there with being a princess or a ballerina. Sad, or what?

It was my childhood dream too! Only then someone told me that you didn't get to read all day, so I decided against it.

I knew this would turn into a spinach meme. Cut it into ribbons and dress it simply with olive oil and lemon juice and you have a very nice salad.

Raisins and nuts sounds good to me, which nuts? Pine kernals?

I used to use pine kernels until I ran out of them - have been trying other nuts since in hopes of finding something less expensive that will still do the trick. Brazil nuts don't work. Cashews do, but they're as expensive as pine kernels.
By the way, when I did this dish using pine kernels I used to dry-fry the nuts in the pan I was going to cook the spinach in, then take them out, cook the spinach and raisins in the pan, and add the nuts back in. The nuts are nice and crispy and aromatic that way.

the now-obligatory spinach info: I like spinach cooked just about any way. I randomly add spinach to any pasta I make based on the illusion that it will somehow make that alfredo sauce healthier. Popcorn remains my favourite food, even as a meal, however.

Other things: i love to watch Survivor. I write backwards. I like drinking red wine, a lot. I also love other people's kids. my favourite colours are dark blue and green. I like to wear t-shirts (!).

My thoughts on spinach: I like it lots. I especially like it curried with lots of garlic and tumeric. Finely chopped aubergine works well too.

Otherwise, hmmm. I'm very very lazy, sometimes too lazy to make it out of bed. I waste far too much time playing the piano, online, reading Georgette Heyer, but still somehow manage to keep going as a PhD student.

i am working hard to rebuild myself and my social life from a bad splat that happened about two years ago. it seems a bit like i am a new alternative version of me, that i am not fully familiar with yet.

i like eating halloumi cheese on its own.
