I had a headache all yesterday evening. I took various things for it, eventually resorting to my migraine medicine, which helped somewhat. However, I went to sleep before taking the full dosage, because otherwise I'd have had to stay awake for three more hours.

I woke up just about three hours later, with the headache back full force. Worrying, however, that I'd need the migraine medicine later today, when a) I'm only supposed to take 5 pills in 24 hours, and b) I'd already taken three, I instead took two excedrin and two advil. So now? My headache's mostly gone, but I feel a bit nauseous. Don't know if this is residual from the headache, a result of too many mixed drugs, or something completely unrelated but instead having to do with my stomach problem.

I think I'll not go to either class today. I e-mailed my professors saying that I thought I was getting a migraine, so I'll be covered. Hopefully I can get some sleep and be nice and chipper by the time of the concert!!

On the plus side, when I woke up, the lyric wheel forum was open, so I got to post my story.

::hugs::

Get well pretty darn soon!

I know all about migraines, unfortunately, what with a family member thus afflicted...

May I ask which migraine treatment you use? I've not found any that are very effective, though I hear that oxygen may help.

Did your doctor mention the difference between the common and classical variants? The classical contains the "flashing light" prodrome, but the common (the boring one that I happen to get) does not - it "merely" includes pain behind one eye, nausea &c. So, it could be well be the common variant that you have (not that that helps).
I have also tried codeine, which is does not stop the pain but at least makes it bearable.

It's a shame about the codeine - I've found it quite useful in general. I find that the migraine treatment available here (maxalt) makes me feel far more nauseous that I did before, and has very little impact on the pain.
One of these days I'll get an oxygen bottle and will try that. Apparently it works, and I've noticed that CO poisoning brings on migraines.

With me, I don't get vision breakup. I tend to find that I cant concentrate, which then gets worse and worse, to a point that my memory stops working properly. I also get vision problems, in that I find it difficult to read or to look at a monitor, especially if it has a slow refresh rate (TVs are definitely a no no). The pain arrives last. Generally I take co-dydramol, which is probably similar in effect (though not content) to vicodin or percocet in the US. It tends to knock me out -- I fall asleep for a few hours, then feel much better when I wake up. Generally migraines last about a day for me, but with extreme provocation (i.e. eating a whole jar of wholegrain mustard in one go!) they can last up to 3 or 4 days.

I am not sure whether I really am allergic to mustard. I seem to be able to eat moderate quantities OK, but as a friend put it, "eating a whole jar wasn't an allergy -- you just hit the LD50!"

I *like* mustard. Whinge!

I take it you did the laser eye surgery thing? I did that too, a couple of years ago. It worked really well for me.
